Overview of Services

The Stem Cell Laboratory is the main work space of the Center for Stem Cell Biology and Engineering at UCSB. The 1400 sqft space was renovated in 2010 with a grant from CIRM and boasts 6 workstations, each equiped with a Baker SterilGARD III laminar flow biosafety cabinet, Sanyo air-jacketed CO2 incubators, and an Olympus inverted phase contrast microscope. This state-of-the-art facility also includes an Accuri C6 Flow Cytometer, an upright epifluorescence microscope, an inverted epifluorescence microscope, stero microscopes in laminar flow workspaces, centrifuges, liquid nitrogen storage containers, corrosive/flammable storage cabinets, refrigerators, freezers, and water baths.  The core provides training and technical assistance in adult and pluripotent stem cell culture methodologies to both internal and external investigators through a recharge agreement.
